St. Lazarus' Houses
Four Houses in Poznań and Luboń where men in crisis, experiencing homelessness and recovering from addiction, rebuild their lives – step by step, in community, and under the guidance of people who have been in the same situation.
The place of „resurrection” to new life
The House of Saint Lazarus is the final stage on the journey from the street to independence. We receive men, who have gone through detox, completed therapy, and are ready to take responsibility for their lives—but still need structure, community, and support to solidify that.
We are not a shelter. We are not a lodging house. We are a real estate agent — with principles, with daily rhythm, with work, relationships, and spirituality that each person chooses for themselves.
How does the House work
Each of the four Houses is run according to the same rules. Decisions on everyday matters are made by Host of the House — resident elected by the Board and Council of the Foundation, who serves as host and mediator between residents.
Community and everyday life
The residents share a house: the kitchen, meals, and chores. The rooms are for one, two, three, or five people. The House Manager oversees order and the relationships between the residents.
Abstinence without exception
The condition for staying in the House is complete sobriety. Every resident signs the rules and an agreement for the duration of their stay. Breaking the rules means moving out – this is not a punishment, but protection for those who are fighting for sobriety.
Paid work
The resident takes on employment confirmed by a contract. From the first paycheck, they participate in the costs of maintaining the House — 900 zł per month. Our donors cover the first month of stay, giving the man time to find employment.
Advanced Therapy at the Outpatient Clinic
Basic inpatient therapy was completed earlier — after moving into the House, residents continue In-depth therapy in an outpatient clinic subsidized by the National Health Fund (NFZ). Therapy does not take place at home – it's about consciously separating your living space from your treatment space.
Personal development
We offer free personal development classes and food assistance (e.g., through cooperation with Caritas Food Bank). We work on skills that are difficult to live independently without.
Spirituality for the willing
For those who wish, we have a Bible study group and a communal rosary. This is an option, not an obligation. At the House of Saint Lazarus, everyone chooses their own path.
Four Houses, two locations
We run homes in two locations: two in Poznań on Świerczewo, and two in Luboń. In total, this is 40 places for men in crisis and experiencing homelessness.
People who run homes
The managers of the Houses of Saint Lazarus are individuals with education and experience. Each of them is responsible for two Houses—they work directly with the residents, care for their development, mediate conflicts, and provide support during crises.
You will schedule the meeting with the Manager by phone. You can find Izabela's and Michał's numbers in the tab Contact.

and the rules in the House.
Helping people in crisis from homelessness and addiction is a selfless investment in humanity. There will surely be no shortage of good hearts that will share what they can to bring good to those in need. I know that good comes back multiplied. Our donors experience this.
Your donation supports the House
Electricity, gas, rent, and the first month of the new resident's stay – all this is paid for by donors. Thanks to you, a man leaving homelessness has a place to return to and a foundation for a new life.
