Danuta, 69 years old

The second rent increase forced her to give up her rented apartment. She took her belongings and went to Poznań Główny Station...

She is a retiree. She lived peacefully in a rented apartment. The first rent increase meant she didn't have enough money for food. She started going to soup kitchens. The second rent increase meant she had to give up that apartment. She took her belongings and went to Poznań Glowny station. She „lived” at the station for a month until the station security called an ambulance because Danusia was already in very poor health.

Danka was discharged from the hospital and moved to a shelter for people experiencing homelessness. She lived there for 3 years. At first, she was ashamed to tell her children about it. She tried to live a normal life, diligently fulfilling her duties. When she heard that we were opening a House for women, she knew it could be an opportunity for her to take the next step. She wanted to trade the facility for a House. She wanted to feel the atmosphere of a real home for „a little while” longer.

Today she lives in the Flower Nook of Saint Rita. She is a Housekeeper. Today she is in contact with her children. Previously, she hadn't told them anything about losing her apartment and ending up at the train station. She was ashamed to tell her children about her situation. The children searched for their mother for a year. Today, they have great contact.
