Rob, 58 years old

I got in the car and drove to Krakow to get a person. They were in very serious condition. Advanced withdrawal syndrome, a foul smell, they were shaking all over. I was there in the evening. "I'm so glad you're here!" I said to the Client.

It was Saturday, sunny. As it's a day off from work, I planned a major cleaning of the house and a bit of work on the car. And then time for the kids – for fun and rest.

Around 1:00 PM, the phone rang.
– Mr. Maciek, please help this homeless person. I've been seeing this man on the street for a long time. He sleeps under the open sky.
After the phone interview, to assess the situation, I came to the conclusion that we need to go pick up this person.
Mr. Maciej, I will bring him by train. But he will need help.
By train? I was surprised.
"So where is this homeless person?" I asked.
"In Krakow," I heard.
And if that person has epilepsy on the train, what will you do...?

I got into the car and drove to Krakow to pick up a person. They were in very bad condition. Advanced withdrawal symptoms, an unpleasant smell, and they were shaking all over.

I was on site in the evening.
'It's so good that you're here!' I said to the Ward.
After a brief conversation with the lady who called me, we said goodbye, and the ward and I set off from Krakow to Poznan. We were driving at night, so we stopped for a short nap in the car.

In the morning, the Patient bathed at the House of Saint Lazarus, got dressed, and we went to the hospital. He was still in a critical state of withdrawal. Thank God that he was immediately admitted to the detoxification ward.

Why am I telling this story? Situations like this don’t happen often. But when they do, urgent intervention is needed. This could only have happened because our Foundation exists thanks to your help. Thanks to you donating to maintain our mission.

The patient fainted in the hospital. We had to interrupt his treatment. It turned out he had heart disease. We admitted him to our Home. After a few weeks, when his condition improved, he went to visit his child – he wanted to see them. He missed them very much. His condition hadn't been this good in a long time. He never returned. We received information that he is being cared for in one of the shelters.
