Remik, 50 years old

But then the 2024 holidays arrived. Something broke. Something went wrong. Remik went to the city where he used to live. He met some "old" friends there. That's when he broke his abstinence. We find him on the street, beaten, in a frenzy, under the influence of alcohol.

August 2023. Remik was admitted to St. Lazarus House. He immediately signed up for individual therapy, knowing he really needed it. He quickly found a job: he had a clear goal: he wanted to become financially independent and self-sufficient. Remik proved to be a very friendly person. Great contact with his housemates resulted in strong bonds. We also remember how eagerly he participated in various events organized by our Foundation.

But then came the holidays of 2024. Something broke. Something went wrong. Remik went to the city where he used to live. He met „old” friends there. That's when he broke his abstinence. We find him on the street, beaten, in a frenzy, under the influence of alcohol. Another therapy. After completing it, Remik returns to the House of St. Lazarus.

He knows more about himself now. He wants to work on himself even more than before. Not long after, he becomes the House Leader – the residents chose him as a friendly person. They know they can always count on him. His professional work and responsibility for himself and others lead Remik to another decision.

November 10, 2025. Remigiusz is moving out of St. Lazarus House. He had been contemplating this for some time: is it time. He saved money and fixed what he could control. With a clean slate, he is starting the next chapter of his life. We are not saying goodbye. We will stay in touch. Remik came specifically today to thank Maciej (the Foundation's President) for the kindness he received and the opportunity he undoubtedly seized. This story shows that everyone should have a chance. Even another chance.
