#: Another Life Saved

Early this morning, Zbyszek, a homeless man I met at the soup kitchen on Friday, came to the Foundation. We had agreed that if he was sober on Monday, I would help him get admitted to a detoxification ward and treatment. And he came – sober, clear-headed, in very bad shape. He had very clear withdrawal symptoms; he was shaking like jelly. Zbyszek wants to make another attempt at a sober life; he's had enough of the street and alcohol. Over the weekend, he wanted to get into a sobering-up center because he doesn't have the willpower to get himself clean. And he succeeded!

And this morning, first thing, he came over, just as we had arranged. He wasn't able to get to 10 Krańcowa Street, to the only bathhouse in Poznań. He didn't have the strength to go to the clothing distribution point and prepare for admission to the ward. I called Krańcowa. There's a shelter for the homeless, a bathhouse, and a warming room there during the winter months. We got in the car shortly after and drove there. Zbyszek bathed there with the help of the guys who work there. What's more, he could change his clothes there and leave his things to be washed. The guys from Krańcowa also quickly prepared a hospital kit: a towel, soap, toothbrush and toothpaste, clothes to change into, pajamas…

We got in the car and drove to the HCP hospital in Poznań.
On the way, we prayed that he would be accepted!
And thanks to God, it worked out again! Zbyszek got into the ward today.
